MobileMonday.Net Reloaded :: All Hail the Alumni Angels!
August 25, 2025
You could say saving the MoMo archive is equal parts courtesy and nostalgia but really it’s a Tribute to the infinite efforts made by “many-many” people for the greater good of the global community. Considering this September marks the 25th Anniversary of the very first event in Helsinki we thought it would be fitting to resurrect the old website and preserve it, as best possible, for future reference. Go Ahead.. Smile Out Loud.
We have managed to recover the old database with over 3,200 posts but much of the out-bound-link material has been lost in time, noting the Internet Archive WayBack Machine has been extremely useful, this rebuild will continue to be a work in progress. Also notice we have not dug into tons of older off-site content pre-2007 and there are no details here on continued event action after summer 2014 melt-down {grr} of the old website.
There is a staggering amount of local chapter legacy content scattered across SNS, FaceBook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Youtube, noting even Flickr returns +10K images tagged #mobilemonday – maybe a worthy social-themed ‘vibe coding’ challenge.. someday. Naturally we are thrilled to see local posts back online here and our activities, from the Africa Project with World Bank to Global Summits along with mega gatherings at major events and The Mob Rulz collection, of course it would be Super to Hear From You: comments, questions, glory stories!
For now.. ‘a good start’.. we hope you enjoy wandering around memory lane: these Founders – plus so many others – made it happen.. 🙂
MoMo :: Hyper-Local Super-Global Community Platform
The ‘secret-sauce’ of our explosive growth was based on very clear objectives and simple philosophy, while global HQ set the compass an open model was extremely flexible for local organizers to decide on details that would work best for their community Chapter group. Perhaps the best way to visualize that approach would be how the basic MM brand was “creatively styled” with iconic domestic flavor.
From only Helsinki in spring 2004 to debut of Islamabad as 100th location by 2010; with some 500 annual events over the following years, entirely run by volunteers, it was truly a most amazing ride.
Of course the emerging mobile industry touched all verticals, from enterprise to entertainment, with profiles across the full spectrum, academic and corporate – governments and startups, a Big Tent.
The simple math = Open + Meaningful + Fun rule that was mission critical, god is in the details: from topics and speakers to sponsors and venues, most importantly.. the attendees. Making everyone happy takes plenty of energy – luck and patience – to consistently deliver smiles across each segment. Well.. it’s good to have goals!
